Wow, what a thrill!  I cannot put into words how lucky I feel to be chosen as WSB TV’s Going Green Champion.

I am excited that my Green Initiative is getting such a positive response. I”m continuing to explore more of the new materials available and experiment with natural and water based finishes. Like anything in life the hardest part is just getting started, once you make the first move and start to gain momentum you just seem to pick up speed and energy.

As soon as WSB TV posts my segment on their website I’ll post a link here.

I was also recently in the local news paper, The Marietta Daily Journal see that article here.

American Craft Council Show

Thank you to everyone who attended the ACC show in Atlanta last weekend. I had a great time meeting all of you and talking about the Green and Sustainable direction my work has taken me.

I have made a very conscious effort to “become part of the solution” by using new and sustainable materials and finishes to create a line of furniture that not only uses resources in a new and exciting way but also does not contribute to poor indoor air quality.

Some of the new materials I’ve been using are Kirei, an environmentally friendly panel made from an uber-sustainable fast growing grass straw, and Dakota Burl, made from ground up sunflower seed shells. Both of these products are made with formaldehyde free glues and are very environmentally friendly.

My finishing process has evolved over the years to be easy to apply and non toxic, both during application and when in your home. It uses water based stains when stain is required, natural Tung oil, shellac and a hand applied hand rubbed water based lacquer finish. This process, although time consuming, creates a deep, rich and durable finish that will stand up to many years of daily use.

I call this Green on Green, since the materials and finish are Green.
